Ralph M. Brown ActThe Ralph M. Brown Act consists of state laws that govern public meetings. The Brown Act guarantees the public's right to attend and participate in meetings of local legislative bodies.

The City of Fairfield City Council and other elected officials are affected by these laws. Committees and Commissions created by these bodies also fall under the guidelines of the Brown Act.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic the State of California passed Executive Order N-29-20 which modifies the way public meetings can be noticed. It is due to expire September 30, 2021.
