Planning Commission

Fairfield is accepting applications for two seats on the Planning Commission. The term for both seats is from July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2028.

The Planning Commission meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at 6 p.m. in the Harry T. Price Council Chamber and acts, under state law, as the principal land use advisory board to the City Council. (The council has delegated certain land use decision-making to the Commission by ordinance.)

Poet Laureate

The City is also accepting applications for a poet laureate. The City of Fairfield’s Poet Laureate Program is a person selected to serve as a public advocate for the appreciation and advancement of the literary arts, particularly poetry in the City of Fairfield. The term is July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2026. 

The Poet Laureate is called upon to create and read poetry at civic events such as public ceremonies and dedications. This person will act as a resource on the topic of poetry should the City or City Council need that expertise. This person will also have the opportunity to conduct poetry workshops or staged readings.

The deadline for applications is 5:00 p.m., Thursday, May 9, 2024.

Maddy Act - Local Appointments List

Incompliance with the requirements of the Maddy Act, California Government Code Section 54972, the following appointment list of the City of Fairfield Commission and Committee members is posted on an annual basis by December 31. The City of Fairfield encourages residents to apply for positions in an effort to build an applicant pool representative of the whole community. Commissioners and Committee members serve at the pleasure of the legislative body, must be residents of the City of Fairfield, and be 18 years of age or older. Youth Commissioners must be between the ages of 13 and 19.

The names on this list are subject to change based on resignations or terminations that occur during the year. Please refer to the corresponding commission page for current membership or contact the City Clerk's Office at (707) 428-7402 or via e-mail at cityclerk@fairfield.ca.gov.
