The City of Fairfield recognizes the difficulties small business owners are facing during the current COVID-19 pandemic. On June 16th, 2020, the City Council adopted an urgency ordinance to permit outdoor dining in private outdoor parking areas.  In addition to outdoor dining, personal services, such as hair salons, nail salons, and other services, may take place outdoors in California, provided social distancing requirements are observed and face coverings are always used.  If your business would like to provide these services or create outdoor dining on private property, please complete the free Minor Discretionary Review application and submit it to the Community Development Department.  All applications must be compliant with the requirements of Ordinance 2020-08.

City has also worked with the Fairfield Main Street Association to develop the Dine Out Downtown program, which aids restaurant owners in facilitating sidewalk dining.  All restaurant owners and personal service businesses who wish to operate outdoors on public property in the Heart of Fairfield Specific Plan area are encouraged to complete the free Outdoor Dining/Personal Services application.   The City will work with you to ensure all dining and space for outdoor personal service is created in the safest, most efficient way.

City staff is available to guide you through the application process and to answer any questions you may have.
