Implemented Infrastructure Upgrades

Council goal: Quality of Life - Infrastructure

IT replaced the City's previous software with the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, implemented various infrastructure improvement projects, and provided citywide training opportunities to improve organizational efficiencies. The new ERP system replaces a 28 year-old system which was no longer serving the City's needs. After three years of planning, the Financials module went live in July 2022 and HR/Payroll systems went live at the end of 2022. Various infrastructure improvements included:

• Security and communication infrastructure installations for the Police staff move at the Cordelia library
• Installation of a new ransom-resistant backup to protect the City’s systems and data
• Completion of various security assessments whose insights will be included in the Cyber Security Roadmap
• Planned safe communications and connectivity to the new PAL center

Improved Public Awareness

Council goal: Community Engagement

IT improved public awareness by creating enhanced, immersive webpages by combining text, interactive maps,
and other multimedia content. Examples include:

• Cybersecurity Awareness
• Know your Election Candidates
• Digital Inclusion, Equity, and Broadband project

 Reorganized the Department

Council goal: Organizational Excellence

 

 Information Technology launched a digital transformation roadmap which encompasses data security and tech modernization. 
Major initiatives in progress include:

• A 4-year Digital Strategic Plan focused on application and infrastructure modernization, process improvements, enhancing the customer experience and technology adoption through training
• A 5-year Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Master plan to address geospatial data needs
• A Cyber Resilience plan focused on industry standards related to cybersecurity and legal compliance
• Collaboration on Digital Equity, Inclusion, and Broadband efforts
