Director of Public Works

The Director of Public Works plans, organizes, directs and reviews the activities and operations of the Public Works department including engineering, building, transportation, operations, and water; to coordinate assigned activities with other departments and outside agencies; and to provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the City Manager.  

Paul Kaushal was promoted to Public Works director role in January 2020, from his previous position as Interim Public Works director.  Paul joined Fairfield's Public Works Department as assistant city engineer in May 2017.  Prior to joining the City of Fairfield, Paul was a civil engineer for the City of Berkeley for seven years where his last position was a manager of Engineering.  Before joining the public sector, Paul held positions as design engineer, project engineer, and project manager with the esteemed firm RSA+ in Napa.
