Investigations

The Investigations Division provides professional investigative services designed to increase public safety and quality of life for all of Fairfield. The Fairfield Police Department has five (5) detective units within the Investigations Division- Family Violence, Property Crimes, Major Crimes, Computer Forensics, and CSI.

SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT

 


Detectives in the unit are sub-divided by their specific assignment and investigate either crimes against persons or property crimes. These crimes include:

  • Homicides
  • Felonious assaults
  • Robberies
  • Burglaries
  • Child abuse
  • Cold case homicides
  • Internet crimes
  • Kidnapping
  • Hi-tech computer crimes
  • Auto theft
  • Missing persons
  • Officer-involved shootings
  • Registration of all sexual registrants (Megan’s Law)
  • Sexual assaults (child and adult)
  • Suspicious deaths
  • Identity theft
  • Forgery
